Recently we have learned that Audi is preparing to launch a new diesel hybrid engine for its models. The first information about it appeared in late November, when several media outlets reported that the head of technical development of the German auto-making company decided to focus on the production of diesel hybrid, which will probably take part in Le Mans. And now there are some new details.
High-Tech Division Head Audi Quattro GmbH Francisco Van Mel broke the silence in his official interview. “If we make this car, it will be absolutely the best supercar, and its concept is completely different from the R8, – said Wang Mel. – It will be a celebration of innovation and technology. ”
It is expected that the new hybrid diesel will be armed with two power units with the capacity of 700 hp and not less than 1000 Nm of torque. Acceleration to 100 km / h should take about 3 seconds, and its top speed will reach 300 km / h. This is not the first time that Audi is working on a high-tech diesel engine. Sure we all remember the triumphant R18 TDI, with which Audi brand won in one of the most exciting and dramatic races in the history of Le Mans.
