The German company Audi has given the green light to the development of its first MPV (Multi Purpose Vehicle), which will be available in 2016 year. It is assumed that the minivan will be built on a longer and wider version of the new modular platform MQB, developed by engineers at Volkswagen Group. This platform has formed the basis of the latest generation of models Audi A3, Seat Leon and Volkswagen Golf MK7.

In an interview with the British edition Autocar Magazine Audi head of sales and marketing Peter Schwarzenbauer said the company wants to create a minivan with a sporty appearance, which in its concept will remind Ford S-Max and offered in six or seven-seat versions. It is planned that the new German car will be about 4.5 meters long. Under its hood will be located powertrains are identical to those that can be found under the hood of Audi A3. Including turbocharged petrol and diesel engines, as well as, most likely, hybrid powertrains.

What is interesting, in March this year another British magazine UK Car Magazine reported that Audi has no plans to develop a line of pure minivan, but instead is considering creating versions A4 Avant with a high roof and with only two rows of seats. Unfortunately, at the moment it is impossible to say exactly which way to ultimately choose the German automaker. But one thing is definitely – Audi Company wants to become a world leader in the premium class for the year 2020 and it is not just a desire, and approved by the leadership development plan.
