The German newspaper Die Welt reported on February 18th that Audi has made a temporary injunction on the use of the name for the Chinese sedan GQ3 Qoros. German manufacturer of premium cars is against the presence of letters «Q» in the name of Chinese-Israeli model, which will debut at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, and the model’s access to the European market is expected by the end of this year. Audi uses the designation «Q» in its line of crossovers. The injunction was obtained in Hamburg as of the 14th of January, which was confirmed by a local court.

Qoros representative told the publication Automotive News Europe, that the company is surprised by the German court, as previously Qoros has formally notified Audi about its intention to use the name, and register it in the European Centre for trademarks. The Chinese company noted that the name GQ3 is preliminary, but despite this, the company will seek to cancel the judgment, in order to “have the freedom of choice.”
